Using eBay to Build Your List

You can hardly read anything about Internet marketing without seeing the words “list building” in the first or second paragraph. Those who teach Internet marketers how to market their products and services preach list building with the fervor of an old time tent revival evangelist. There is a very good reason. If you intend to make any money in Internet marketing, you have GOT to have a list.

There are a lot of methods of list building touted by marketing gurus who teach Internet marketing. They advise things like posting to blogs and forums and writing and marketing articles, etc., all of which are excellent ideas and excellent ways to build a list. There is, however, one method of list building that is often overlooked by even the savviest of Internet marketing gurus and that method is using e-bay to build your list.

If you have ever purchased anything on e-bay, whether it was through an auction bid that you won or by using the ‘buy now’ button, you know that you have to give your name and e-mail address first. You also, of course, have to give your credit card information or use PayPal, but the important information to a list builder is the name and e-mail address. The sellers of items are supplied with all of this information.

Of course, to build your list using eBay you have to have something to sell that will be of interest to those who would be real prospects for whatever product or service you are selling. So here’s the idea.

Create videos or audios that would be helpful to users of your products or anyone who might be interested in more information about your niche, or find those videos or audios with Private Label Rights to make them your own. Put the videos on DVD and/or the audios on CD, and offer them for sale on eBay for just your cost – the 50 cents or a dollar the disc actually cost you. At first, just burn & label the discs using your own computer, just til you can assess the demand for your content.

If demand is strong, up the price a dollar or two to cover the cost of a professional fulfillment house who will take your orders, burn the discs and ship them for you. In many cases, the costs involved are MUCH lower than you’d think, and the higher the volume the better your rate, usually.

Remember too that you can use that same content as downloadable bait on your web site for attracting more visitors, and this digital version costs you very little or nothing extra to deliver. Build your list every way you ethically and legally can, remembering to only go after targeted traffic and signups.
